Death Metal, Crust Punk and total sonic filth.
Audio Punishment.
From Nancy, France.
Punitive, dirty, expeditious, and exhilarating, Death Whore’s music is a mix of death metal and crust-punk, filtered through the urgency of hardcore-punk and the sonic intensity of sludge. With their debut album “Blood Washes Everything Away” — following the EPs “self-titled” (2020) and “Total Teutonic Torso” (2022) — the band hammers the point home, delivering their most radical and uncompromising record to date.
At the heart of the album’s 11 tracks and 34 minutes, Death Whore portrays the alienation of the modern world and the absurdity of capitalist systems, expressed through ironic lyrics influenced by the absurdism of Samuel Beckett and the urban claustrophobia of J.G. Ballard. This suffocating atmosphere is reinforced by cinematic samples and keyboards, during slower, crawling tracks that evoke haunting soundscapes. The inhumanity at the core of the record cannot be contained, leaving the solution to the general bloodletting hinted at by the album’s title.
The members of Death Whore, who hail from bands like Wheelfall, Phazm, Chaos Echoes, and Hypnagone, draw their influences from iconic figures in death metal (Obituary, Morbid Angel), crust-punk (Dystopia, Trap Them), and sludge (Buzzoven, Crowbar). Mixed internally at Studios de la Forge by Pierre “Gorgor” Schaffner, the album features mastering by James Plotkin (Khanate, Thou, Conan) and artwork by Hell Simulation aka Ethan Lee McCarthy (Primitive Man, Vermin Womb).
“Blood Washes Everything Away” will be released on May 16, 2025, co-produced by Duality Records, Crypt of Dr. Gore, Specific Recordings, Hecatombe Records, and No Good to Anyone Productions.
